Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Position Summary:

The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for conducting psychiatric evaluations of patients for the purpose of prescribing medication as part of the overall patient treatment plan. This position will include interacting with patients and their families and collaborating with the medical, therapy, and case management teams. In this position, you will make a real difference in the lives of individuals and families in the community!

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide excellent care within the office and clients homes.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, social workers, and case managers.
  • Conduct nursing health assessments
  • Provide prescribed medications to patients
  • Provide crisis intervention and support to patients experiencing mental health challenges.
  • Educate patients and families on mental health conditions and coping strategies.
  • Advocate for patients and ensure they have access to necessary resources.
  • Success in the position requires compassionate and respectful care.
  • Work in partnership with a highly skilled psychiatric team.
  • Provide evidence-based interventions and therapies to promote mental wellness and recovery.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program
  • Active nursing license in the District of Columbia is required
  • At least one year of experience in psychiatric nursing is preferred
  • Must have a current CPR Certification
  • Chronic disease management experience is a PLUS!
